A realistic Welsh Terrier in ginger and black bouclé yarn, with a bearded muzzle, folded ears, an upright tail and a little chain collar. A wire frame and nut-and-bolt joints let him stand proudly, turn his head and pose – a perfect gift for terrier owners and dog lovers.
A detailed crochet pattern by Tatiana Chirkova with step-by-step instructions and photos: the dog is crocheted in bouclé yarn, shaped by tightening and with felting needles, then brushed up and trimmed for a true terrier look. Use a ready-made nose or make one from polymer clay (instructions included).

• Worsted / 10 ply bouclé yarn (e.g. Adelia Valeri, 50% wool, 50% acrylic, 145 m / 50 g): about 50 g of ginger and 20 g of black.
• Steel crochet hook to match the yarn – I used 1.5 mm (US steel 8, UK 4½).
• Strong black thread for tightening (e.g. Iris, 100% cotton) and a tapestry needle.
• Two black beads for the eyes (6 mm); a ready-made nose 1.5 cm (0.6 inches) wide – or black polymer clay and varnish to make one.
• Single core copper wire 1.5 mm, about 60 cm (24 inches), for the frame and a thin copper wire about 20 cm (8 inches) for the ears; adhesive fabric plaster tape 1 cm wide.
• Nut-and-bolt (or cotter pin) joints for the legs: 4 fibreboard discs 18 mm and 4 discs 20 mm, 4 bolts or screws, 4 nuts and 8 washers.
• Coarse and fine felting needles, a brush or Velcro for brushing up, small sharp scissors, stuffing.
