Octimus Prime is a big striped mimic octopus with eight long, bendable tentacles and a soft skirt between them – pose him any way you like. Make him red and white like the original, or purple, blue or any colour of the sea.
A crochet pattern by Alexandra Simba with step-by-step photos. A copper wire frame inside the tentacles keeps their shape. The Boombox and RastaOctopus add-on is a separate pattern (0007).

• Any smooth, not very stretchy yarn – cotton or microfibre is perfect. I used Alize Diva (100% microfibre, 350 m / 100 g): almost a whole skein of red and about half a skein of white.
• Black cotton embroidery floss, Iris yarn or Vita Pelican to embroider the contours.
• 1.0–1.5 mm copper wire, about 4 m, plus white fabric plaster or insulating tape.
• Toy eyes, beads or half beads for the eyes (2 × about 12 mm).
• Polyester stuffing, crochet hook to suit your yarn, tapestry needle, scissors, wire cutters.
