Meet Jiggers, a skinny, long-legged, home-loving dog with huge floppy ears, a big black nose, a pink tongue and a fluffy mohair coat. A wire frame inside lets him stretch, sit, play-bow, lie on his rug or stand proudly on a rock – an expressive, poseable toy that dog lovers will adore.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS:

• Main yarn – I used 60 g of sand “Mohair Delicate” by Nako (40% mohair, 60% acrylic, 500 m / 100 g), plus 5 g of pink for the tongue and 5 g of black for the nose. Any yarn works – thicker yarn makes a bigger dog.
• Matching crochet hook – I used a 1.5 mm steel hook (US 8, UK 4½).
• A pair of ready-made eyes 8 mm (or black half beads 6 mm).
• Single-core copper PVC electrical wire – about 240 cm, 1.2 mm in diameter – and adhesive fabric tape about 1 cm wide for the wire ends (optional).
• Transparent glue, stuffing and any tinting material (optional).
