Akaki is a gloomy, lanky little angel with big blue googly eyes, a long nose with one tooth, a cloud of white curls, soft white wings and baggy white bloomers with a heart button. Funny, touching and full of character – a wonderful gift for anyone who needs cheering up.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS:

• Yarn – I used about 50 g of skin-coloured and 50 g of white Kartopu “Nubuk” (22% acrylic, 78% polyamide, 550 m / 100 g); both yarns should crochet to the same gauge.
• Matching steel crochet hook – I used 1 mm.
• Single core copper PVC electrical wire 3 mm thick, about 100 cm (39.4 inches), for the body, and fabric tape 1–1.5 cm wide.
• White polymer clay and transparent varnish for the tooth.
• 4 shank buttons (I used 1.1 cm) and strong thread to attach the arms and legs.
• A pair of ready-made eyes – I used 7 mm glass eyes.
• Any material for the hair (ready-made curls, yarn, etc.) and a heart-shaped button for the pants.
• Stuffing, transparent glue, matching sewing thread, sewing and tapestry needles, a wooden stick for stuffing; optional: material for tinting.
